Any sheet can collect RSVPs, on the Free plan or Pro. Guests reply Going, Not going, and, if you allow it, Maybe, then say how many adults and children they are bringing. RSVPs can stand alone or sit on the same page as sign-up slots.
Choose it when you create the sheet
- Start a new sheet from your dashboard or from a template.
- Under What should people do?, choose RSVP only or RSVPs + sign-ups. Sign-ups only leaves RSVPs off.
- Finish the rest of the creator and publish.
RSVP only gives guests the attendance question and nothing else. RSVPs + sign-ups shows the attendance question above your slots, so a guest can RSVP and claim a spot in one review. Only the sheet owner changes these settings; co-hosts see the responses but do not edit the RSVP settings.
Turn RSVPs on or off later
- Open the sheet from your dashboard.
- Open the Settings tab.
- In Sign-up options, find Collect RSVPs and turn the switch on or off.
- Adjust the options below it, then select Save.
Turning collection off pauses new responses. Responses you already received stay on the sheet, and guests keep their private links.
RSVP options
Ask guests about appears only on multi-day sheets. Whole event asks one question that covers every date. Each date asks guests to answer for every date separately and gives you a count per date. Choose the scope before you share the link: once the first response arrives, the scope stays as it is so that earlier answers keep their meaning.
Allow "Maybe" adds a third choice. It is off until you turn it on. Leave it off when you need a firm count.
Ask for adult and child counts is on by default. Each reply then includes how many adults and children are coming, and your sheet totals them. Turn it off to count responses only.
People allowed per RSVP caps how many people one reply can cover. The default is 10, and the range is 1 to 100.
Limit total attendance
Turn on Limit total attendance when the room, the venue, or the budget has a ceiling.
- On a single-day sheet, or a multi-day sheet asking about the whole event, set Maximum people attending.
- On a multi-day sheet asking about each date, set Maximum people attending each date. Use Limit applies to and Different limit on some dates when one day has a different ceiling.
Only responses marked Going take a place. Maybe and Not going never count toward the limit. Guests see the places left before they reply. When nothing is left, Going is unavailable, and a reply whose party does not fit is turned away as entered rather than trimmed. There is no RSVP waitlist; waitlists apply to sign-up slots and are a Pro feature.
RSVPs and sign-up slots stay separate
An RSVP never reserves a sign-up slot, and a slot claim never changes an RSVP. On a sheet with both, your masthead shows people going next to spots filled, each counted on its own. To learn what guests see, read what guests see when they RSVP. To work with the responses, read track attendance and manage RSVPs.
